Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid, or LABSA for short, has been the world’s largest-volume synthetic surfactant used in the detergent industry for decades. It’s a very cost-effective anionic surfactant with excellent cleaning power and compatibility with other types of surfactants. It can be stably dried into a powder form, and it can also easily dissolve in water to formulate many kinds of detergents in liquid and gel form, such as Dishwashing Liquid, Laundry Detergent Liquid, and Hand Soap Liquid.

Features & Benefits:

  • Excellent solubility and compatibility with other surfactants, resulting in great formulating flexibility.
  • The most cost-effective and reachable synthetic surfactant.
  • Great foaming, emulsifying, and cleansing ability, also with good biodegradability.
  • Outstanding high-temperature stability makes it the perfect surfactant for spray tower-dried synthetic detergent.

Stability/Shelf life:

  • Stable. Hygroscopic. Incompatible with bases, metals, and oxidizing agents.
  • Pack in tight-closed containers(drums or tanks); Store in a dry, ventilated and cool place; Kept away from direct sun and water..
  • Under proper storage conditions, the shelf life is 24 months..

Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLES)

Description:

Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate, interchangeably known as Sodium Laureth Sulfate, or SLES for short, has been a dominant surfactant used in daily household detergents, personal care products, and cosmetics. Thanks to its great cleaning power, mildness, and excellent compatibility with other surfactants, it can be found almost in all cleaning rinse-off products. Compared to the other rivaling primary surfactant, Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonic Acid (LABSA), SLES is much milder, more natural, and more hard water-resistant.

Features & Benefits:

  • Mild and low irritation makes it perfect for formulating all kinds of skin-touch products, to name a few, Shampoo, Body Lotion, Facial Cleanser, and Hand Soap Liquid
  • Excellent solubility and compatibility with other surfactants, resulting in great formulating flexibility.
  • With significant foaming, emulsifying, and cleansing ability, also with good hard water resistant property.
  • Made from natural coconut extract, with an excellent degradation rate of up to 92%.

Stability/Shelf life:

  • Stable. Combustible. Incompatible with potent oxidizing agents.
  • Store in a cool, dry, and dark place.
  • Under proper storage conditions, the shelf life of Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate is 24 months.

Alpha Olefin Sulphonate (AOS)

Description:

Alpha Olefin Sulphonate, or α-Olefin sulfonates, commonly called AOS for short, is a third-generation anionic surfactant. It’s biodegradable, mild, and resistant to hard water, yet with outstanding detergency and excellent compatibility with other types of surfactants. It’s widely used to formulate high-foaming heavy-duty detergent as the secondary surfactant alone with Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid (LABSA) or to formulate mild light-duty detergents and personal care products, such as hand soap liquid, shampoo, baby bubble bath, and so on. There are commonly two types of AOS commercially available, the liquid solution(with 33%-40% active matter content) and the dry powder(with 85%-95% active matter content). The choice of these two types is based on the formulation target, transporting and handling convenience, and cost.

Features & Benefits:

  • Excellent solubility and compatibility with other surfactants, resulting in great formulating flexibility.
  • Significant foaming, emulsifying, cleansing ability, and 100% biodegradability..
  • Outstanding hard water resistant property
  • Mild, low irritation to the skin.

Stability/Shelf life:

  • Stable at an extensive pH range and suitable for use in acidic and alkaline environments.
  • Pack in tight-closed containers(drums or tanks); Store in a dry, ventilated and cool place; Kept away from direct sun and water.
  • Under proper storage conditions, the shelf life is 24 months.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine

Description:

Cocamidopropyl Betaine, or CAB/CAPB for short, is a widely-used amphoteric surfactant. It’s a mild coconut-derived active ingredient, increasingly used as an emulsifier, thickener, and foaming agent in various household detergents, personal care products, and cosmetics, especially in gentle baby care products, such as baby shampoos and baby bubble baths. Thanks to its mildness and compatibility with other surfactants, Cocamidopropyl Betaine has been a popular choice as a primary or secondary surfactant in an extensive range of formulas. CAPB can have excellent synergistic effects with other surfactants in formulas, to achieve higher viscosity, richer foam, and lower irritation to the skin and eyes. Like other betaine-based amphoteric surfactants, CAPB is effectively anti-microbial, being effective against various common bacteria and fungi such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albicans, and Pityrosporum ovale.
